The Elements

Elements are one of the fundamental elements of astrology. 😄 Even though it's a play on words, elements truly are the foundation—not just of astrology, but of the entire universe. We are talking about energies, not substances, even though they are named after fire, earth, air, and water. Everything starts with them. Elements are one of the two building blocks of zodiac signs. Their (im)balance determines our behavior, motivation, and drive. Without elements, there is nothing.

You might already be wondering—how do I know the state of my elements? One solution is to have your horoscope done (and now, time for commercials 😄 we create custom horoscopes just for you! - just kidding, of course). Now we're out of the brackets, so no more joking. 😄

So, you can have your horoscope done, or you can draw conclusions about your elemental state from the descriptions in the next few posts. Of course, this is just one side of your overall personality and one part of the natal chart, but it reveals the basic outlines of your character and gives insight into what drives you and what matters to you.

Understanding this will greatly help you understand your own behavior, as well as that of others. Tolerance is the key to starting, as it’s the fastest way to master the behaviors that hold you back—unlike non-acceptance and resistance, which only complicate things and create new problems.

Elements are especially important in relationships (romantic, family, business) because they show, for example, how we communicate or perceive things. Say you have a boss who has a lot of Earth (you don't know that); his communication might seem cold or perhaps nitpicky to you, but he always has a practical and smart solution regardless of his blunt approach (which you know very well). This might affect you because, for example, you have a lot of Water, so you take everything emotionally and always feel bad. Yet, deep down, you know he’s not that bad, but he's blunt as hell and it's bringing you down.

The good news is that Earth and Water get along. The other news, which you might not like (but isn't necessarily bad), is that Earth is the one that directs Water, creating a riverbed. So, it would be up to you to let go, follow that 'Earth' boss, and just stop worrying (to put it simply).

You would really get on his nerves if you had a lot of Air because you’d be nonchalant and do your job without a problem, but your boss would see you as an unreliable person who's impossible to manage. Even so, he’d still consider you a good collaborator because you communicate well and always do quality work despite everything. Why would that be? Because Earth and Air don't get along. Earth is concrete, everything must be 'by the book,' and we all know what Air is like—you can't catch it, and it turns in the blink of an eye.

This is just one small example out of countless combinations and even more areas of application. Elements are important to us not only in the way we communicate but also in the work we do, the activities that are generally important to us in life, how we experience love and partners, who can support us, why others hold us back, or why we hold others back, etc.

I believe that over the next few days, as you read about each individual element, you’ll get a clearer picture of what elements are and how they function in our daily lives—and learn something about yourself and others in the process."
